1. Cite (orally and written) an understanding of the historical, philosophical, theoretical systems of Afrikan/European Mental Health.
2. Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge base of Afrikan/Western Psychology as well as Afrikan/Western traditional healing systems and the terminologies that are associated with the subject.
3. Discuss how/why Afrikan/Black Psychology can be defined as the branch of wisdom and science that concerns itself with human functioning.
4. Explain the directives that constitute Afrikan and European worldviews as well as a culturally appropriate diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders based on worldview.
5. Apply a culturally relevant therapy model with diverse clients.
Medicalization of War Trauma: Who is served by this model? - PRESENTER: Mary Neal Vieten, PhD, ABPP

1. Identify and describe the ethical violations within the medical model as it relates to individual humans and the experience of trauma.
2. Assess the ethical conflicts and real-world consequences of failure to provide informed consent.
3. Question medical model conceptualization and treatment approaches to post-traumatic stress.
4. Demonstrate understanding of the psychological, social, and behavioral impacts of wartime trauma.
5. Utilize the presented efficacy data and personal anecdotes improve future clinical treatments of individuals with wartime trauma.
