Mental Health: Considering Context in Human Suffering

Emotional distress is often a normal response to an abnormal or painful circumstance. Yet, all too often, when people find themselves in such dark or difficult spaces, the first approach is to figure out what is ‘wrong’, and what to ‘do’ about it, rather than considering the context. The focus of this year's conference  serves as a reference to this phenomenon and as encouragement  for us all  to work together to  look beyond that, to consider perspective, make meaning, and to avoid overlooking that which might, in fact, be the key to healing and forward movement.
